Project:
A cave inspired by the "Wailing Caverns" from World of Warcraft. This level was a very quick prototype for a potential student project so that the programmers had a level to work with and artists had a visual example. Everything was made in one and a half days, including a workflow document for the art team. In the end, the level was never used because the theme changed at the last minute. All textures are hand-painted and the scene is vertex-lit.


For the transition, I created an in-between texture and made a seamless repeating mesh so I could create large strips of mesh and the bend them over the edges of the environment using lattice. This left the wall with a seemingly seamless transition, covering up otherwise harsh texture transitions on the intersection between the wall and floor.
